How does religion affect culture

Religion is a huge factor in different cultures around the world. It has influence on cultural aspects from the arts and rituals to the way we think and act. The main way religion has impacted culture globally is with the formation of large communities with shared beliefs. Previously to this, people worshipped local God’s and had little unification with people outside their small communities. With the creation of universally practiced religions, they appealed to a variety of people and thus produce larger communities. Their shared values helped them live together, as well as create political and economic opportunities to their members. Many aspects of culture such as art, music and clothing have been inspired by religion.
